Qingdao is the most prosperous city of Shandong province (located at the eastern side of China, in front of South Korea) and China's second harbour. Famous for its european architecture, its beer and the pleasant climate, Qingdao became an inter- national renowned city. As a summer seaside resort, the city is one of the Chinese people's most preferred touristic destinations and organise the 2008' Olympic Games nautical events.

Population

In spite of seven millions inhabitants living in seven districts and five subdivisions, Qingdao is an human-size city. Urban popu- lation reaches 2.3 millions inhabitants and Korean people represent the biggest ratio of the expat' population (60 000 persons).

Climate

The mild climate lasts all the year. Qingdao is located on the lit- toral and this makes regular winds maintain a higher air quality, better than in other cities in China. Average temperature is 12.2 °C (25 in summer and about 1.3 in winter). Yearly hygrometry is 776 mm.

Places of interest

Qingdao hold a great importance in the chinese contemporary his- tory. Inhabitants, tourists and expat' communities enjoy the quality of life of the city. You can stroll in the streets of the ancient german neighbourhood at the western side, round the Lutherian church, visit the Governor's Residence and the Ocean University's campus (scheduled by  the UNESCO).

In Qingdao, there are many other places of interest like Zhongshan park, Badaguan woody area, various beaches, Qingdao Beer museum, night markets, etc. The Laoshan mount, which is a vast developped park, is at the East if the city.
